Solar installs on newer RVs with Firefly and Vegatouch

Hi there,

So we have a new motorhome ordered and planning for solar install but it seems that there are some big complications involved as it relates to the newer integrated control systems like Firefly and Vegatouch.
I have installed several systems but on the new coach, I would like to have it professionally installed.

Has anyone upgraded their newer, 2017+ RV with these management systems, with a large solar install? I am thinking about 2kw or more for panels and at least 1000AH of LiFePo4 storage..
I contacted AM solar and was told they are not taking on anything newer than 2016 at the moment due to this issue.

I'm looking into it now for a 2017 with Vega touch, magnum says the inverters need an update, I sent an email to firefly with no response.
still in the planning stage for the spring

Having a large solar install can (and probably needs to) be added separate from Vegatouch. I don’t think there will be an easy way to integrate the two.

With the limited Magnum functions that Entegra programs into Vegatouch lithium will not be a viable option. One member on here unplugged the inverters from the Magnum bridge and added Magnum remotes to properly charge lithium and it appears to be working although control of the inverters is lost on the Vegatouch screen and his Magnum remotes are now located in the basement.

Updating the inverter will not help. The problem is with the limited settings available through the Magnum bridge. Entegra only put about 20% of what a Magnum bridge is capable of into Vegatouch.

I will soon tackle this problem on my 2022 Seneca. Currently, there is 4x 6v 266 amp batteries with a Go Power190 watt panel and controller. I'm miffed that everything is undersized to really for a good job and didn't really want to change everything just to boondock.

Right now, this works fine with the firefly system.

I resent the request to Fire fly on my 2017 Conerstone with Vega touch, they say a custom program can be written for $1700

Don’t remember off hand but it may have been in the Entegra forum.

Wow, that is a ridiculous price to pay for something that should have been there to start with.

The integration is nice and of course the remote apps for mobile phone are awesome and a gadget geeks delight but the restrictions on changing anything is a pain for sure.
LiFePo4 really should be an upgrade option on higher end units. Would also love to see factory solar option with larger capacity….

FireFly is for OEM only , I would resend any questions you have direct to Battleborn. They are both the same company however I would question if any tech support available to the consumer at firefly.
