Freightliner Signs Exclusive Agreement with Winnebago Industries

Source: RV D@ily Report

For Immediate Release:

GAFFNEY, S.C. – Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation extended its relationship with Winnebago Industries, Inc. and continued its market leadership in the motorhome industry by entering into a three-year exclusivity agreement with the manufacturer.

Winnebago Industries, based in Forest City, Iowa, is a manufacturer of Class A and Class C motorhomes. Under the exclusivity agreement, FCCC’s XCS straight rail and XCL chassis will be offered as standard for the Winnebago Journey and Journey Express, Winnebago Tour, Itasca Meridian, Itasca Meridian V Class and Itasca Ellipse rear diesel-pusher motorhomes.

“We are pleased to have signed this exclusivity agreement with Winnebago Industries, continuing FCCC’s long-standing relationship with them,” said Jonathan Randall, director of sales and marketing for FCCC. “This partnership enables FCCC to continue to offer Winnebago and Itasca customers an opportunity to experience performance and customer support only FCCC can provide.”

Bill O’Leary, vice president of product development for Winnebago Industries, said the partnership with FCCC will allow for substantial business growth.

“Our agreement is mutually beneficial,” O’Leary said. “We use FCCC exclusively for our rear diesel pusher chassis based on three key elements: innovative design; reliability; and after sales support. Plus, our agreement with FCCC is an integral part of our growth strategy moving forward.”

Did I understand correctly that Fleetwood is going with the Spartan chassis only?

I don't understand how the "exclusive" agreement provides any if the advantages the Winnebago spokesman declares. Seems to me the only advantage is to Freightliner in knowing they have a lock on Winnebago for the time period. Maybe I'm just dense...

It is possible that FCCC offered some concessions to WGO price-wise in order to become exclusive. WGO doesn't enter into a agreement unless it's mutually beneficial. There's also allocation. FCCC may have given WGO delivery guarantees which helps WGO manage its JIT schedule much better. I'm just sayin'
