Winnebago Industries Introduces the Elegant 2012 Itasca Ellipse 42JD
Winnebago Industries Introduces
the Elegant 2012 Itasca Ellipse 42JD
-42JD joins best selling diesel lineup in the industry-
FOREST CITY, IA, October 20, 2011 – Winnebago Industries, Inc., (NYSE: WGO) a leading United States (U.S.) recreation vehicle manufacturer, introduces the elegant 2012 Itasca Ellipse 42JD.
“Our top-of-the-line Itasca Ellipse adds another stunning floorplan to its lineup for 2012 – the 42JD,” said Winnebago Industries’ Vice President of Sales and Marketing Roger Martin. “There’s not just one thing that makes this floorplan appealing – there are many, like the enormous bathroom in the rear with his and her sinks or the dual wardrobes in the bedroom, or the ultra-comfortable lounge area with opposing coaches. Or, you can go outside and fully appreciate the exterior beauty of this coach, with its powerful Maxum® chassis that offers unsurpassed drivability and storage. The Ellipse is the total package in 2012.”
Featuring three slideouts, with a full wall slide on the street side, the Ellipse 42JD features two TVs in the living area – a 32-inch LED HDTV mid-coach and a 40-inch LCD HDTV in the front overhead. The dining area offers a buffet with extendable dining table and chairs and a four-door refrigerator. A residential-style Maytag® French door refrigerator is optional. The galley features Pantry x2 offering double the pantry storage thanks to swing-out doors for improved storage and function. High-end Corian® solid surface countertops, backsplash and sink covers are additional galley highlights. The large master bath includes his and her sinks and a large curved Big Shower with skylight, dual master bath wardrobes and optional stacked washer and dryer. A guest bath is positioned for easy access mid-coach. The bedroom features the Ideal Rest powered king bed and large dual wardrobes along with a 26-inch LCD HDTV and a rear stereo system with AM/FM/CD/DVD player, iPod, and MP3 input and built-in alarm clock.
“The Itasca Ellipse has made a big step forward in 2012 with the glazed cabinetry and polished tile floor that make this coach truly first class,” said Pat Leach, owner and president of Leach Camper Sales, Lincoln, Neb. “The finish of the ceiling in the living and bedroom areas also adds to the beauty and overall look of the coach. The coach shows very nice.”
“Overall – the Ellipse 42JD floorplan and amenities are great,” said Jason Bellflower, personal RV advisor with Camping World of Tallahassee, Tallahassee, Fla. “The rear bath with double vanity and half bath is a real bonus. It’s a beautiful machine. It’s hard to argue with a Winnebago Industries’ product – they do it right.”
The Itasca Ellipse offers two additional floorplans in its 2012 lineup:
· The industry’s hottest selling diesel floorplan in 2011, the triple slide 42QD features Winnebago Industries’ own extendible sectional sofa with a perfectly placed 40-inch LCD just opposite. This bath-and-a-half floorplan features a spacious bedroom, with a king bed, well-appointed kitchen with pull-out island and plenty of interior and exterior storage.
· The 42AD features incredible spaciousness with four slideouts, especially in the mid-coach lounge area with an extendible sectional sofa and Rest Easy Multi-Position Lounge both featured. The fully equipped kitchen is in the front of the coach, with a luxurious bedroom in the rear that features both a wardrobe and chest of drawers.

I think this is nicer than the Monacos I saw at the RV show, and I am sold on Winnebago quality, I think it will be a winner.

It's a great lookin coach and a good floorplan but the 32" TV in the living area on the midship 1/2 bath wall is a deal breaker for us. That and the fact you have to have the air mattress bed.
But we sure did take a close look at it.

We own a 2011 Tiffin Phaeton. It has had more than the normal spate of MH problems but as always, Tiffin service is the best around. We really like the 2012 Itasca Ellipse but from what I read, the moveable bed (although a great space saver idea) seems to be ladden with serious motor and technical problems affecting slide operation and appears to be a constant service nightmare? The Tiffin models above the Phaeton do not offer enough of any features upgrades to incent us to change to another Tiffin model but the Ellipse floorplan and roominess is just awesome!
It is hard not to like the Ellipse floorplan and other advanced and roomy features but the bed problems we read about in this forum really scares me off from a technical standpoint!
The moveable bed problems make me feel like paying $80 to $110K above the cost of the Phaeton would not be wise even though the Ellipse Floor plan and other features
Seem superior to anything offered by Tiffin. Any opinions out there on this matter?
