Can't believe ten months ago the first coach we looked at was a 25' Thor Axis.
How in the world did we end up with a 41' diesel pusher! Well, it was a LOT of shopping, comparison, reading posts on iRV2, talking to owners, touring a factory, financial soul-searching.
A few pieces of advice really stuck with me:
If you can, buy your 2nd RV first.
Get inside as many as possible.
Buy what's important, ignore the bling (like pull-out pet food drawers and lazy susans in the cupboard, etc.
Candidly, I'd never have been able to afford this coach if Fleetwood hadn't overbuilt and the weather stayed colder in the midwest longer than usual - inventory built up at the factory and the dealers. Got 40% off retail. Unbelievable.
It's not our first camper but our first class-a, first diesel. I'll be honest and tell you I was white-knuckle on the 45 minute drive home - Detroit rush hour freeway traffic - and then of course the winds were gusting to 40mph. Used the horn once... No idea what people are thinking when they dart in front of 15 tons of vehicle. Should've squashed a couple but the paint is new...
Home safe. An entire library of manuals to read. Happy to camp in the driveway for a little while.
Thanks to all those that put up with my stupid newbee questions.
Hope to see you soon on the road!

Gorgeous coach. I've looked at the 40E and the 40D. Great looking coaches. I'm hoping we can upgrade in the next 2 or 3 years. I'm really impressed with the Discovery LXE. It appears to be a good quality unit. I don't think there is a coach out there with more bang for the buck. You did well!

Very, Very Nice Rig! Great Job on the discount too! As for the first drive, I do recall my first drive home in our near 40 footer DP. And that was from two states away! However, I found the more you drive, carefully of course, the more it becomes second nature.
As for the unthinking, unknowing dart-arounds in the 4-wheel tuna cans, I sometimes wish for a national campaign to get into their heads that big rigs AND our DP’s, MH’s, TT’and 5’ers DO NOT STOP ON A DIME or handle like sports cars!
Ok, I feel better.
Enjoy that new beauty!
