Bought the Class A but can't bring myself to sell the Class C
My new pride and joy is a 2009 Safari Cheetah 40' DP. 4 slides, C7 Cat. 13,800 miles when I picked it up.
It started by getting a deal too good to pass up on the Class A. Thought well no big deal, I'll just sell the Class C and all is good.
Couldn't wait on the Class A purchase for fear someone would snap it up.
I live in Ohio 4 months and work in Alaska 8 months. This helps me rationalize 2 RVs. Not sure DW agrees.
I took the Class C, Winnebago Chalet 31' to OH last winter, intending to bring it back to AK this past spring. The a friend called with the deal on the Class A. Wired the money over night and flew to NV to pick it up and drive it back to AK.
Lower 48 RV'ing is pretty much my wife, 2 dog and I. perfect for the Class A. AK RV'ing is typically 3 or 4 adults and a couple kids. The Class C sleeps 6 to 8 so perfect for AK. Not to mention 40' of Class A is hard to park in our favorite parks here in AK.
Looks like the Class A will head to OH in October and the Class C will come back to AK next spring.
Trips between AK and OH run about $3500.00 in fuel etc... So it will be kind of nice not to be jockeying rigs back and forth twice a year. I've been in AK 4 years now and still haven't seen everything I want to see. Unfortunately in AK there really are no day trips and in the summer motels go for $300.00 a night. That alone makes the RV almost necessary. Not to mention the lack of motels in a lot of areas.
Anyone planning a trip to AK give me a shout would love to meet you and help with any AK needs you might have. I love it here and really love to share it with others.

First let me congratulate you on a beautiful coach. I love the color scheme, and the interior is gorgeous.
Also thanks for offering help and advice for trips to Alaska. I had no idea that motel rates were that high there. One weeks stay would almost pay for the fuel to get there.

In the Anchorage area hotels that normally run $60 to $130 off season will easily go for $300 during tourist season, if you can find a room that is. Don't know about other areas.

Don't wait..find a deal on a cruise. Go see it. Even with the limits of a cruise it is one of the most spectacular places in the world.

Many (including us) own 2 or more homes to move to according to the seasons. If the math works, there is no reason not to own 2 RVs for the same reason.

Biggest problem is the Class A has spoiled me. Mostly the amount of storage provided in the A over the C.

Awesome RV! I agree with y'all about Alaska. I've flown up 3 times and rented a car. I go to Homer to visit family (no hotel bills) I bought my first RV in '86 with a trip to AK in mind when we retired..Circumstances changed so that never happened. Now that we've both retired, I just bought a used Class C .. Four Winds Chateau. So far one trip to New England it ran beautifully. That drive to AK is still on the horizon.

June through August are the best times on the ALCAN, everything is open.
I've made the run in late September and early November. September is not bad, still enough CGs open. November was bitter cold and very facilities open.
Wildlife is present May through September, even early October.
