Down Sized and so Happy

We recently decided to downsize. We traded in our 45' DP and purchased a 2017 Winnebago ERA 170X. Huge change for us but we are loving it so far. It is really amazing to be able to pull in and camp anywhere, or drive right into a town or national park and stop for the day. We don't have all the space we had before, but have more freedom in our travels. And for us that is what it is all about.

How about setup and pack up to travel....any difference. As I get older that seems to be more of an issue. Maybe it's just that we haul more junk in the bigger DP.

Seems like the more room the DW has the more she needs to fill it up. An truth be told ; I gotten more like her than when I was younger

That is a huge change from what you had. I think the storage for us would be a big issue since we like to have stuff. Enjoy the new coach though.

We did our first 5 years 98,000 miles in an LTV then moved up larger twice. Enjoyed them all. I know someday we will be back to the small traveling rig again.

Well we thought the storage would be an issue too. Obviously with our huge DB we had a lot of storage. When we unpacked we found all kinds of things we never used. I suppose this is common. The more space you have the more you pack (Just in case you might need it). But for us those were just things. We just made a list of what we REALLY NEEDED to travel and see the country. In the end it really isn't all that much. Sure we have a smaller frig, no fireplace and only 1 TV instead of 4, but really those things are luxuries that we decided did not make our trips. Adventure and seeing the country is what it is about for us. It really is nice to just be able to spontaneously decide to hit the road. In 5 minutes we are in our Coach and pulling out of our driveway. Maybe not right for everybody and that is perfectly OK. That is why they make so many different kinds of RV's. But for us the ease and convenience was worth not being able to drag along half the stuff we own.

Yep. Full bath and a sofa that drops down to 2 single beds with the push of a button. Then drop in a custon and you have 1 King size bed. Sure we have to set up our bed every night which is not as easy as just hopping in bed with our DB. But it takes less than 5 minutes.

This caused me to ponder. If I had your new rig and you old rig both, which one would I take on a trip. I can see i might use both of them depending on the trip variables.

Yep, that settles it, I need 2 motor homes.

When we had the LTV it only took us a couple of nights of trying to tuck in sheets that we found the Superbag. RVSuperbag.com It made bed making easy and we stored it on the back of the sofa.
