Meet Little Turd
This is my 4th, and most likely final camper. I call it “Little Turd” because it is a Forest River product, and Big ole POS seemed a bit harsh. It’s a 2023 purchased right after the Hershey RV show when the dealer was clearing them out for the 2024’s. I knew what I was getting when I bought it and already fixed some minor issues. It also came with a bent awning arm that took the dealer 6 months to replace but now, that is also fixed.
We just returned from a 9-day, 2000-mile trip and I have to say, this rig is so much easier to maneuver than my previous 38’ fiver was, and my new truck is very comfortable compared to my previous one ton dually. The camper itself has plenty of room and storage for the two of us and we really enjoyed it. We also made a list of mods which I will enjoy tackling over the summer. As it grows on me, I may have to come up with a more pleasant name.
We set up at the Crab Orchard Lake National Wildlife Refuge in Southern Illinois for the April 8th Solar Eclipse. I brought along 3 of my telescopes, two for visual observations and one for imaging. Fellow campers were welcome and I also had extra solar glasses available for anyone in need. At 4 minutes of totality, it was twice as long as the one we observed in 2017.
Here’s a video I shot starting seconds before totality. It shows the “Diamond Ring” and then the appearance of the Solar Corona:

It was a very successful break-in trip.

Aw..:. C’mon…. Give it a nicer name. It’s doing the best that it can.

Wait... You had to fix a few minor things, awning fixed under warranty, just came back from a 9 day, 2k mile trip with glowing remarks and it's a turd?

Welcome to the forum. You are a fine example of "Size doesn't matter".

I like it's name also .
Besides , the jury's not in yet , with only one 2000 mile trip on it .
We lovingly gave our grandson the nick name of " Butt Head" .
We were all at the hospital when he was born . The doctor said he was breech , but he came out head first !
Apparently they couldn't tell one end from the other on the Sonogram .
