Our 1st RV New to us Our new Journey

Frugal Converted Yankee here. Saved for 40 years to be able to retire coming in 3 months. As I do significant research before all purchases, never buy big things new and no credit this is what we ended up with. 2012 Winnebago Vista 26p with only 22k miles. Me and the wife to start out travels next year. Will use this year to learn all its systems, do some checkout camping close to home and complete the outfitting. Each item purchased I check out on multiple RV blogs. Big items were a good RV compressor, TPMS monitors. and Also have to get a car for dolly towing, dolly and shelter put up before it gets too hot here in NC. Me and the wife did a 3 week car tour to Cody and Jackson WY last summer and realized we can exist in tight quarters quite well. (32 years married). I retired as early as I could to enjoy things when I am most physically able. We are still giddy to even have this.

Nice rig.
Put her next to the house and "camp out" in her for a couple of days.
Put all the slides out, use all the systems repeatedly till the black and grey water tanks are full.
Try her plugged in and not, just to see the difference.

Then you can go after the chassis. Grease, oil, filters, hoses, belts etc.

After all this, you will feel more comfortable hitting the road.

Happy Trails,

Mike in Colorado

We think you'll love it!

We have been married for almost 47 years and are grateful to exist together in really tight quarters. We have a 2016 Winnebago Tour 42QD as our first RV pusher. We've owned fifth wheels and travel trailers through the years, but this will be our first adventure touring the country.

Driving this beast is a blast and much more fun than the OTR trucks I drove with my dad for several years. Starting with short trips is a great way to learn the pros and cons of your new home on wheels; just remember to be patient with yourself in learning and have an extra measure of patience for those goofs who drive around and near you, as they ogle your rig and wish they could do what you do.

She looks sharp and should be more fun than a nanner pickin' contest down at the monkey farm in October!
