Our 2025 Dodge "Goose"
Hello, new to group and figured I'd introduce myself and our Class-C named "Goose". She's a 77 Dodge cutaway van with a fresh camper on top. The camper is almost complete, will be this spring, thus why I would consider it a "new rig". It's a 2025 build
If any one is interested in seeing some pics or even videos of the tear down through rebuild, lmk. We took it down to thw floor pan / frame and started fresh. I had told my fiance she'd be all done by that coming Christmas. It's been 20 fun months since I declared that time line. About to finish the elec branch circuits, do the final carpentry, then she'll be birthed upon the open road with a new lease on life. Happy to have found this group, looking forward to seeing what y'all are rolling in. MG

What a nice job you did on that! How much battery do you have? Can you run the mini split off grid?

We've got 7.8kwh (2 300ah @ 12.8v). 1.62kw of solar, a 40a AV/DC, and a 40a DC/DC charger incase we get in a jam. The DC split, we haven't given it a good run yet because I am just now finishing the elec. But we did test it for an hr back in august, it was 115deg outside and prob 120 in the camper. It started at 70a and after about 20 minutes it was at 60a. I've seen a video of the same unit and the guy showed it, once the cabin cooled down, cycling from 350 to 30w. I anticipate that the solar/battery will have no problem handling the AC for 8-10hrs on a 90deg day with decent sun. The fridge is a concern though, we have a full size 10cu' LP/AC dometic squished in there. My thought is that we'll run it on AC during the day then flip to LP at night. For heat we have an 10,000btu LP vent free wall unit. It is thermostat controlled so to not bake us in this shorty. If his site lets me I'll post our YouTube page so you can see videos of various build stages. Don't give me any greif about my beer belly seen in the first video, I must have been between jobs at that time
