12V fridge - how loud? Boondocking?

We are ordering a new trailer but it's not huge, only 23'. We mainly boondock. 12V fridge is an option along with a 190w roof solar package. How loud are these things? Small trailer where sound travels. Is it worth the trouble if we are mainly boondocking? We've never had an issue with a propane fridge, not sure the 12V is worth it or not.

Aside from the noise question, which I don't think is a problem, if you mostly boondock you probably won't like the amount of DC current that a compressor fridge draws- at least 50 amp hours daily, maybe more if you are in a warm climate and/or open the doors a lot.

The 190 watt solar package will help, but only on sunny days and campsites where you are in full sun. Shaded sites won't produce much power from panels on top.

I bought a new MH early this year and insisted on a propane absorption fridge because we never camp at FHU sites.

I'd be more concerned about your power consumption vs. power storage capability. If you're mainly a boon docker you have a good idea of how much power you use. Will the 190 watt panel recharge the battery bank enough to keep you going until the next day with the frig thrown in the mix?

Highly recommend the 12 volt frig. Mine in my Travato is so quiet I have to really listen to hear fan on. Very quiet. Beats the heck out of an absorption..safer also. I have two 12 volt agm’s with 190 watts of solar. Have no trouble boondocking.
