14 year old tires

i bought my motorhome as is from camping world about 6 months ago. i been having troubles with it so i looked to trade it in. when the dealership looked at my coach he told me my tires were 14 years old and it was a safety issue and if i had a accident i could go after them. i called camping world and they say they will not replace them. is there anything i can do about this?

Yes. Replace your tires. You bought "as is" so unfortunately I would say this bill lands on you.

Im surprised that CW let you out the door with tires that old , but as stated you'll need to replace them in order to sell it.

Replace the tires and consider that one a Good-Lesson-Learned.
Shame on you Camping World

Agree with others. Nothing you can do against camping world. And way bad of any dealer to sell it to you with those tires on it.

It's another "yea, but they looked good, plenty of tread remaining" issue. Shame on the dealer for preying on the uninformed. We really need a STICKY checklist for newbies on buying used.

Ya know when anyone sells a unit "as is" that's what that means and it's reflected in the price you payed.

Sorry, but it is the responsibility of the buyer to be informed enough to avoid being victimized by places like Camping World. You agreed to an 'as is' purchase and apparently did not check the DOT date codes on the tires.

Did you sign documents acknowledging an "as is purchase"?

Did this vehicle leave the lot at the time of purchase with a DMV inspection preformed by the dealer?

If you received a current inspection certificate acknowledging all safety features of the vehicle met state standards then you may have a case. Even if purchased as is, but the vehicle received a safety sticker from the dealership is a conflict.

You may want to negotiate a public relations deal with management. Say at cost or 50/50 or a set of used that does meet reg's

You should check the dates yourself. If you don't feel comfortable doing it have some one else do it or take a photo of the DOT numbers on the tire and post it. Of course with the year of the coach 14 year old tires would be about right for the original tires.
