1997 Power Gear Leveling System

Hello. I'm jumping into the RV world purchasing an Older Dolphin with a Power Gear manual Leveling System. The push buttons on the control panel Front Rear Left Right are finicky and you have to push really hard. Usually this type of button the plastic cracks before it stops working. Is there away to clean the contacts? They're are usually aluminum or brass discs that pop in and out (like on a Bose Wave radio remote for example). Anyone have any experience with this problem? The replacement update kit by Lippert runs anywhere from $530 to $650 (from Lippert) and up. I hate having to man-handle those little buttons.
Thanks

You might check with RV salvage yards, they often have parts from RVs they are parting out.

Stannman, Welcome to the forum.

I haven't had any problems with my button panel yet, but I have given some thought as to how I'll resolve it when the day comes.

There are only 6 push buttons on my panel and two LED lights. Before I pay $530 - $650 for a new panel, I'll make one..

I've been considering doing this anyway because there is a feature that I want, the ability to retract a single jack..

I haven't taken the panel apart, If you take your's apart, please take a bunch of photos..

I looked at the diagrams, The panel connector that plugs into the controller has 11 pins, but only 10 are used. I suspect each button (6) and LED (2) are on their own wire, and maybe a PLUS and MINUS (2), this would give 10 wires, which is what I have on mine..

I bet the switches could be replaced with something like this:

Retracting or extending a single jack can lead to twisting the vehicle frame. This can make doors stick or the windshield to crack or pop out of its surround. Just a word of caution.

Another thought would be to see if you can spray contact cleaner on the switches. Not sure if when you pull the panel out if you have that access but may be worth a try.
As to retracting a single jack, I had that when one of the fuses on my board went and I did pop the windshield.
