2004 Coachmen Rendezvous 32 foot electric slide.
I have a 2004 Coachmen Rendezvous 32 foot with one electric slide.
it will only move 1" either direction.
I have installed new motor, high voltage relay on wall, relays under step.
still will not work.
I live 200 miles from nearest repair shop.
Any help appreciated

Is it in or out? If out is something jamming it that you can't see?
If not there is probably a manual way to extend and retract. Have you ever lubed the weatherstrips?
Is there a auto reset circuit breaker involved?

Sounds from your limited description that something is binding.
Free up/disconnect the motor and make sure that the problem is not the motor (although it sounds like it is NOT the motor)
You need to try and get into EVERY PART of the rollers/slides that the slide out moves on and inspect for obstructions. SOMETHING is preventing it from moving. Have you checked any locking arms/pins to make sure that something there isn't still engaged? Just some thoughts

It rolls in and out OK with the crank.
It has outside arm supports and I have lubed them.
if there Is there a auto reset circuit breaker I
have no idea where it would be.
I think I've replaced every thing from the motor to the incoming power.

When it's trying to go 1 inch in or out, does it sound like the motor is getting into a bind before it stops? Or does the motor just suddenly stop, like it was switched off?

It engages, moves 1" then stops.
press switch again, moves back 1" and stops.
The motor just stops each time.

I would disconnect the motor from the driveshaft then see what the motor does when activated.
If you can manually move the slide easily then maybe there is something in the motor circuit that is preventing full movement.

Thanks to all for responding!
Motor just stops either direction
What I am wondering, what tells the motor it
has reached open or closed position.
is there a sensor that I don't know about?

There are different slide out systems out there. I'm no expert for sure, but I believe most limit travel of the slide with electronics that sense load of the motor. The electronics are supposed to disconnect voltage before amperage becomes too high. My Kwikee system is like this, end of travel is reached, the motors begin to bind, and voltage is dropped. Since yours seems to just stop without any sign of the motor loading up/binding, then I'm thinking the problem may be in the wiring. Possibly a wire that is getting pinched or pulled when the slide moves? It could be just enough to open the circuit.
Like I said, I'm an amateur at best. But if it were mine, I think this is where I'd start.

I have tracked the problem to not enough power to motor.
I wired motor direct to booster box and it ran perfectly!
Cannot figure out why not enough juice to run motor.
I have installed 2 new batteries as coach only had 1 battery.

A drop in voltage is often caused by bad wiring connections especially ground connections. It may be time consuming, but I would start at the power sources for the slides and physically check the electrical connections. Example with a ground connection, loosen the bolt for the ground wire, clean with a file or wire brush the contact points and reinstall. For bayonet type connections, remove, clean and reinstall. Continue until you have cleaned all connections. Connections that can be exposed to weather use some dialectic grease. You may not have just one weak connection but a few "poor" connection that become cumulative. If you have or fine an auto resettable breaker perhaps it's weakened with age.

Thanks for the relies and ideas.
Slide works well when power is applied direct to motor.
I have to stop short of completely open or closed so as
to not damage gear box.
Slide switch only has 2 wires and can not be replaced
because non exist to buy. i am going to try and
install a newer switch which has more (5) wires as in most
newer slide systems. Also may install separate battery dedicated to slide.

Before you do that, take the leads off of that switch and measure the resistance through it when in closed positions. It should read something near open when not activated and near 0Ω. If you get more than 5Ω that is probably at least part of your problem but is 1Ω or less, not likely. You could also measure the voltage drop across the switch, I would replace it.
Another way to determine if the switch is the problem is to use a jumper wire and connect one lead to the supply side of the switch and then touch the other side to the motor side of the switch and see if the slide moves.
