2005 Bounder CB Antenna

Hello-----I'm a new forum member. I recently purchased a 2005 Bounder 33R and would like to install a CB so we can communicate with our travel partners. I do not want to drill holes in the roof or body for an antenna. The antenna on the roof, which I assume is for the AM/FM radio, has what looks like a load coil similar to those found on CB antennas. Does anyone know if this stock antenna is dual purpose and whether or not it can be used to receive and transmit CB radio signals? If so, where is the connection for the CB portion of the antenna located. Any info on this would be appreciated.
Regards, Buck Wheat

If it's the same one that's on our Bounder, it's dual-purpose & it sucks. The connector cord for ours was tucked just under the lower lip of the dash, below the radio controls.

CB Antenna/2005 Bounder.

Laurie, thanks for your response. With the info you've given me I'll do some more checking. I'm not really looking for range beyond a few miles, so maybe if I get the antenna tuned at a radio shop I'll luck out. Thanks again, Buck Wheat

Might be easier to use one of the Walkie talkie apps for a smart phone of a couple of hand held units.

2005 Bounder CB antenna

Laurie....as a after thought, did you end up installing a CB and antenna on your motor home. and did the antenna require drilling holes? I'm wondering if using the mount that is already attached and putting on an antenna of higher quality would be better. Any thoughts. Thanks, Buck

We had the crappy one taken off & better, but still small, one put on (pic below). We didn't do the install so I don't know what kind it is. It could be a Firestik. For no more than we use our CB (mostly for interstate monitoring) it works well enough after we had our CB (COBRA 75 WX ST) tuned correctly.
