2016 Ram Shark Antenna leaks
The roof shark antennae is leaking water into the cab of the truck. I have looked at numerous U Tube videos, they call for re sealing the area around the hole in the roof by removing the antennae, I don’t want to do that. I have sealed the edges of the antennae and roof with marine silicone, worked for a while. No one knows of a product to use, anyone have a sealant to recommend? I was thinking flex shot, has anyone had experience with it?

Sorry, if it were me and a truck still valued at over $50K. I would drop the head liner and remove and reseal correctly.

Silicone is one of the worst things to use. There are some things that silicone will not stick to. Also, it's next to impossible to remove all traces of silicone. Even silicone will not stick to cured silicone.
There are sealants that work better. Lexel and Geocel.
Never used any of the Flex seal products. The commercials turn me off. Greatest stuff since sliced bread.

Since I posted, I found a split on the antennae, it wasn’t there when I was removing the silicone. I took the truck to a car wash after removing the silicone. Per the local auto body repair guy the shark antennae may be loosened by the car wash brushes, guess mine got a crack. I have no use for this antennae. Anything attached to a roof is a liability. So, the “seal” attached to the antennae is compromised, now there is a split in the body of the antennae and I am apparently the only one who has questioned “how to seal the shark antennae without replacing it”?
Rhagfo, I agree with you, i don’t fiber McGee but dropping the headliner, pillar liners, never fits right when put back. I cannot do this, dealer wants $140.00 an hour plus parts, estimated 3 hours, maybe more, for an antennae I have no use for. Frustrating. Thanks for your reply

Thank you for your reply, I will look into Lexel and Geocel. In the past I have used silicone for a multitude of things. I used marine silicone on my aluminum boat and it has never leaked in 20 years. Yeah you prepped the surface, but it didn’t have to be perfect. I think the product has been degraded over the years like every thing else. “ it just isn’t made the same way”.
