4-wheeler rack

We passed a 5th wheel on the highway today that had a rack in a hitch on the back of the 5th wheel that had a 4-wheeler on it. We are interested in investigating this for possible use. Has anyone used one of these or does anyone have information on them. This was the first time we’ve ever seen this. Thank you!

I foresee a number of problems;

1. Unwanted weight transfer from pin box possibly resulting is poor towing performance.

2. Adding weight to the rear section of the frame, which was not designed for such forces might result in broken frame and/or structural framework.

If you are talking about dead weight, a four wheeler seems to be a pretty heavy load. If you are referring to a wheeled platform, not a bad idea. Google Freedom Hauler. You can also just use a regular trailer and hitch if double towing it's legal where you plan to travel.

There are a couple of companies that make something similar to what the previous poster linked to. It has two hitch arms that mount to the rear of the coach that only pivot up and down. The trailer (large platform) uses a large heavy duty pivoting wheel in the center. It becomes an extension of the RV and not technically a trailer.
