Same here only mine is 50'. I have used it many times. SO cable is very tough and easy to work with. You can probably make one cheaper.

I've priced cable and plugs before and found I could only save 10% or less. Could you list your material sources?

Seller not to smart and thinks less of you.
The cord is unfit for service and being built as a 50 amp cord and sold as such there likely could be liability concerns that he thinks you should accept and pass on to some other sap.
PayPal has stiff buyer protection specifically for this reason.
Do leave a negative feedback with exact data indicating wire size provided and size need with their suggestion for you to sell it as that may be hard to make go away as long as "just the facts"

Chiming in just for fun here...
1. You deserve to get what was advertised and what you paid for.
2. If the cord assembly that you have is designed, intended and UL listed for RV service your golden.
NEC is a "BUILDING CODE" it the rules we use as tradesmen to build safe buildings, its origin and continued propagation is the result of... insurance companies. The NEC has no bearing on whether the cord you have will work safely with your trailer or not; it's completely ill-relevant to this discussion.

It's been about 5 years but I bought the 6-4 SO cable locally at an electrical supplier and bought the terminals on Amazon. Didn't save a ton but I feel like I got a better cable.

I've made my own several times over the years and if you buy quality plugs, male and female, you most likely will spend the same amount or maybe a bit more than buying a manufactured cord. The key to this is to buy quality components that are made by established electrical equipment manufacturers....Leviton, Hubbel, etc. Stay away from the cheap Chinese junk....some of which is sold at Home Depot, Lowes, etc. Generally, those two stores also sell the quality brands too, but sometimes folks get caught up in price alone. Another factor is the cord itself. The H.D. and Lowes usually do not carry the heavier gauge multi-conductor (6/4 for 50A) and you end up buying from an electrical supply house....and they are much higher on the price per foot than buying online. Of course shipping costs comes into play when buying 50' or more of the heavier cord, so you must consider all things.
I prefer making my own, even if it's a bit more money because I know when I'm done, I've got a quality cord, with quality components, and it will last for a very long time.

Well thanks rated so considerate of you to point that out ins such a fashion, guess you take after your handle. But there are lots of charts out there for this.
But I bow down to you.

I'm not sure what you are referring to with your comments above? I was simply pointing out the the chart link that you posted doesn't apply to the SO type power cords in this thread.....and what does that have anything to do with my screen name? Wrong information doesn't need to be passed along, and that's all I was trying to do

This voltage drop calculator
says in that cord there is a 5% voltage drop @50A. Industry standard maximum is 3% drop.
Someone else commented on 2 different cords having the same rating. That is because both cords have 15A plugs, in this instance larger wire size is immaterial.

Followup: eBay contacted the seller and they gave me a full refund.
Not sure what to do with it now. I'll cut the plugs off so it can't be mistakenly used. If someone near 48176 wants to make a 30 amp extension cord out of the cord, you're welcome to it.

I agree with XRATED the chart you posted has nothing to do with this thread. Some of us electrical professionals take offense at misinformation posted on internet boards and feel a responsibility to point it out.

Actually the National Electrical is just that and not a "Building Code" the Uniform Building Code is the building code. The National Electrical Code is not driven by insurance companies but by the NFPA which is the National Fire protection Association. The NEC's board consists of representitives of manufacturers, contractors, electrical engineers etc. not insurance companies.
