50 AMP surge protector

I finally purchased a 50 amp surge protector with high\low voltage protection. It is one that plugs inbetween the park box and my power line. My question is can I pigtail it down for 30 amp service. We will be going to a small campground and will only have 30 amp service. It will not be a problem since it will not be warm enough to need to run more then one AC unit if any. I just don't know if a 50 amp protector will work with only 30 amp service. My gut says it will but I would feel better if I knew for sure. A little bit of knowledge can be dangerous. Any information will be very much appreciated.

If you have some directions or a manual, check them out...or call the company. I had a TRC 50 amp surge guard in my 5th wheel. It said to use it only a short time on 30 amps, that it is designed for use with 50 amps.

I have the portable 50 amp model from Progressive Industries. The manufacturer said it will work fine with a 30 amp adapter. I've used it with one for two years now with no issues.

I hook my Progressive to 15 amp shoreline at house,no problem. REMEMBER you have to cut down electric usage accordingly.

Not only will it work just fine on 30 amps, it will work BETTER than a 30 amp unit.

It has like six times the spike suppression ability of a 30 amp unit is the reason. If not more. (other funcitons are the same, but that one is greatly improved)

Thanks for the information. I'll check the paperwork but my surge protector is a TRC so it don't look too good. The only good thing is we very seldom get a site with only 30 amp service.

New update---If I would have sat down and read all the paperwork that came with the surge supressor, I would have known it can be used with a 30 amp feed. Thanks to everyone for the input.

I have the TRC 50 amp Surgeguard. The information sheet says, "Operation of these units on a 120v/30 amp, 120v/ 20 amp and 120v/ 15 amp power source is acceptable, the unit will function properly".

Good, they've improved it since I got mine about five years ago.

I just hooked up my brand new TRC 30 amp-----works great. The 50 is sitting in the belly box doing nothing but it deserves a break after 6 months of steady use.
