-75 RV antifreeze at Menards $5 gal.
For those that use antifreeze. Menards has not containing alcohol -75 antifreeze for $5 per gal. At least it doesn't smell like it has alcohol or labeled combustible or on MSDS . The -50 they have for $2.70 a gal has ethanol on MSDS. They also have 11% rebate going.

Those two are about the only ones that may be diluted and still work.

Just a reminder. All anti freeze is not compatible. Do your research and if you’re not sure, ask your mechanic. Also, manufacturers use a multitude of different anti corrosion additives.

This is RV anti-freeze for plumbing.

I think the operative word here is overkill. We will never live to the next ice age nor be in any place where we would need -75 degree protection.

Ok. Sorry for my input thinking we were referring to engine anti freeze. We don’t use plumbing anti freeze in our neck of the woods, although at times we probably should, so my thoughts were one sided.
But to those who add engine anti freeze, check for comparability. Have a good one.

It's just premium grade more pure glycol without any alcohol . No need for -75 . The price is pretty good . Better for things with rubber seals like washing machine solenoid valves. Would also be better for certain ways people winterize. I.O. boat motors less worry about dilution.

For years I pinched pennies buying the cheaper RV AF. It wasn't until I bought the more expensive type with no ethanol which, at least for me, I found it easier to flush in the Spring with little or no residual funky taste to the water. I think the ethanol caused both those issues. Did I need the -75 vs the -50? No, but IMO it was easier to get out of the lines & worth it to me to pay the extra $. YMMV.

Menards does carry more than one brand of RV antifreeze, one of which is ethanol based, so be sure to read the label. Splash Antifreeze is the one being referred to in this thread. It’s propylene glycol based. They also make a -100° version. [emoji3]
