8.1 Popping noise
Popping noise gone fixed finally. Fairway Chevy Gmc. Found fuel pump week an replaced. Didnt fix popping noise but did fix it from dying when pulling hill. Check fuel pump under rev if you can’t hear it making loud noise running it maybe week . FYI had already replaced fuel filter.
Picked it up in Las Vegas an home to Bakersfield ca. Took it to Mc Williams an Walden auto repair. There they replaced crankshaft sensors. Helped. advise me to put new plugs an wires on and all problems solved.
I believe heat was the main problem around engine and a lot of heat around the rear ended exhaust getting the end of the fuel tank and fuel filter so hot you could not put your hand ou it. When the engine has to much fuel pressure the fuel pressure regular sends excess fuel back to the fuel tank right by the fuel pump where it could have an effect on the pump over time. Causing it to be weak.
I am going to wrap exhaust insulation around fuel lines in that area.
Also installed air filter from 07 corvette then removed rubber in front of engine. Lots more power on the hill. Hope this can help.

It's too bad you didn't check the Workhorse Forum, I believe the wires and plugs would have been at the top of the list.
Lots of information on this web site, use the experience of others to your advantage.

Yep....if you had come here first, you might have saved some money. Spark plug wires arcing against the exhaust manifolds under heavy acceleration is the number one cause for misfire in that motor. I hope you used the heavy duty plug wires that are a specific replacement for this issue.
The main cause of failure was lack of airflow. If you can, add some tubes, like dryer hose, to the grill and route them back in front of the manifolds, so you get some additional airflow over both manifolds.

Can you elaborate more on this? What rubber are you referring to?

He is probably talking about the rubber shroud that directs the airflow through the radiator.
I found that mine is missing (removed not by me). When looking into it found that it can cause an overtemp issue. I haven’t had a problem with that but the previous owner also converted the electric fans to run 100% of the time. I’m not sure how I feel about all that. I will say that the ROAR comes on rarely and doesn’t stay on long.
