A&E Awning Tension

Hi, Hope someone can help me. I replaced the tension spring (RH) on a A&E 9000 awning. I am trying to rewind the spring. Read and reread the instructions from A&E but can't find whether the lock lever is in Roll up or Roll Down position when I wind the spring. I hope to only do this once. If you've done this successfully please let me know.

Thanks for the help.

I think it will only work one way, i.e. you want the springs under tension when the awning is unrolled and open. To do this, I believe the ratchet needs to be in the OPEN position, like you are pulling the awning down to open it. (I think??)

It won't do MACH 2, but I can get a sandwich and take a pee.

In this video:

It shows the latch being in the "roll down" position.

Of course this video is the A & E 8500 but the 9000 should be the same procedure.
