A&E/Dometic awning - lock lever repair

Last week while pulling out our awning, the lock lever went loose, and as I mulled the awning out, I could tell the lever mechanism wasn’t clicking as it had in the past. Once I got the awning extended, for certain the ratchet mechanism associated with the lever wouldn’t hold the awning as it should. Flipping the lever was met with little or no resistance as was previously experienced. I suspect something happened internal, busted spring or the pawl might have broken off.

Anyone experienced, and what was your remedy, short of replacing the assembly (end cap, pawl, spring, etc.) which apparently are out of production? I can find replacements in limited supply, but not color (although color isn’t a priority).

Am hoping it’s something internal that might be repairable with some JBWeld or similar - but would like to have an idea of what it might be before tearing into it.

TIA!

I had something similar happen. I removed the torsion spring assembly and found that one of the two spring anchor pins worked itself out. I screwed it back in with thread locker then did the same to the other pin. It’s been over a year and so far, so good. I found a picture that shows the mechanism and labeled the anchor pins. Hope this helps.
