About buying "BRAND NEW "
I'm considering a 2016 HR Vacationer 33CT. This will be our 3rd unit and second class A...
This unit stayed in Jacksonville Florida until about six months ago when it was transferred to a new dealership same company in North Carolina, thinking the new store could move it...
So technically it has set for about a year and a half… Yes they may have exercised it and move them around and had test drive it slides in out, cycle the generator all that good stuff but it is two years older... there are two more years on the tires there are two more years on the TPO roof...
Above and beyond the usual, What kind of things should I be concerned about? What kind of things should I look into more carefully?
Now HR, and the dealership, and FORD, because it is an F 53 Chassis, are all treating it as though it was a brand new unit... all the warranties and the service and maintenance apply, but for me it is two years older… What should I look at? what
should I ask?

I would think that at this point in time they should be able to give it you at a great price. Did they give any reason why it sat for so long? It's worth considering due to their giving you the warranties.
Good luck and let us know what you decide.

I would not be afraid to start at 45%and hold at 37-35% (don't laugh), or walk away. All your points on age are valid. Key is, you gotta have the nerve to start low and walk away. If meant to be, it shall be. Salesman's job is to separate you from as much of your money as possible. Your job is to keep as much of your m,oney as possible, and still get what you want.

Agree, 45% off and hold.
Some Banks will consider a 2016 as a used rv if you are considering getting a loan.

Think about what its worth once you sign the papers. It would then be a used coach thats 2 years old.

Yes 35% to 40% off MSRP is reasonable. NO matter how much lipstick they put on it is still a 2 year old unit.
The key in any negotiation is to be able to walk away.

I don't think your question about what else to look at or consider has been answered, other than price. We just bought a new 2016 at the end of November and the things that we found that need attention due to sitting were:
Sealant needed to be reapplied in some areas
Wallpaper was peeling or bubbled in some areas
Trim inside and outside needed reattached in some areas.
It appears that the Alante was closed up in the summer and the heat inside escalated to the point of impacting the adhesive on some wallpaper and trim pieces. Oh, I also pulled the house battery and installed two group 27 deep cycle 12v flooded batteries.

Even after you negotiate your GREAT price (at least two years' worth of depreciation taken off), make the sale conditional on an independent RV inspection and the dealership fixing all items identified in the inspection. The inspector will know what specific items to look for in a coach that has been sitting for a long time. You will most likely get back at least the cost of the inspection in the items that are discovered.
Check the actual build date, as well. The coach may have been built near the end of the model year. If so, it is a much younger unit than it might otherwise appear and turn out to be a "best of both worlds" purchase. In January I bought the last brand new 2016 Honda Odyssey on the dealer's lot. It had a build date of 11/16/16, which means it did not sit on the lot for a year. It was truly a brand new "one year old" car. (And yes, I got a very good deal on it.)
As for why a coach remains unsold, there are many possibilities. RVs are very taste-specific purchases. We bought our gently used (less than one year before being traded back to the selling dealer for a larger unit) Bay Star after it sat on the dealer lot for almost a year. I watched the price drop month after month after month until it finally got to our price range. I know many people looked at it, some even flew in from long distances to do so. But Elsa waited for us and we are thrilled to have her. (I named her "Elsa" as I had told DH that hell would freeze over before I ever got in a motor home )

It's pretty much been covered above, but I agree you should be able to get a great deal if you stand your ground!

Agreed. Last Labor Day we purchased our 2015 American Tradition brand new. It had just never sold. We got it for 44% off.
It had been moved from one dealer's lot to another (same company) and it had actually been a show coach for the drivers at some Nascar races. Therefore, it had seen a lot of foot traffic through it.
So we checked and double checked and triple checked to make sure everything worked properly, any carpet stains were removed, all trim work was in place, and any nicks and scratches were addressed.
We got a HECK of a deal on a brand new, but 2 year old coach, that we just LOVE!!

Since we are talking price I guess I should throw another question on the floor and drop the left shoe… So my trade-in is a 2014 Winnebago 20 6HE that I have only owned since November… And there's $20,000 between wholesale and retail… So the HR new retail in 2016 was 158 his sticker blowout price is 109 995 which is about what he has in it… So the story gets interesting when I ask him to consider my trade so he develops his down payment of 10% puts that on top of my pay off and cause that amount a trade allowance the problem with it is he says he can't offer me a trade allowance at the sale price he has to be at full MSRP 150 8K and I was like come on this unit two years old two years on the tires two years on the chassis two years on the springs two years on the roof and the weather and you're asking me to pay full MSRP and I was like come on this unit two years old two years on the tires two years on the chassis two years on the springs two years on the roof and the weather and you're asking me to pay full MSRP

To cover my treat… So he's got a sticker at 1:09 he'll take my trade but then sock me for full MSRP and finance 147 somehow I don't think that's a good deal…

A quick check of RV Trader showed a new 2017 HR Vacationer 33CT listed at $109,900. I think your dealer is playing the shell game with the numbers. If you are upside down on your current coach, it could complicate things considerably when it comes to financing. Ask your dealer what is the price you will have to pay after trading in your current coach. What is the drive out price? That's really the only number that matters.

His bottom line is 147... after digging through all the numbers up and down the bill of sale realized he's gonna pocket approx 40. And 110 is a dead break even for him... I offered him 125 which should allow him 10k in pocket, which I think is more than generous...
