About my Dad...

This is most likely the wrong place to post this, bit it appears he posted hear lately.

This is Walt Smith- Craig is my Dad. I just thought I’d let you know what is going on with him incase you were looking for replies from him.

On Monday, he had blood work come back showing he may have a problem. By Wednesday it was confirmed that he has a brain tumor. Next Monday morning they will be cutting it out. I’m writing because my Dad is the guy that can handle a multinational billion dollar merger with out breaking a sweat, but tell him they are going to knock his out to pull a tooth and he freaks.

So you know, the Dr. has told us that IF your going to have a brain tumor, this is the one to have. He says it easy to get at and they will be able to get it all. There is some danger because it is extremely close to the optic nerve, but they feel he will have a full recovery. He won’t be cleared for driving for a long time but should be able to be driven in six weeks to two months. It may be next fall before they will clear him to ride again (which is going to KILL him).

This changes our plans. When he comes home he will live with me. Not too much of a hardship because my home has a “mother in law” room. It has its own outside entry, a master bath, a small dinette, and a sitting room with two large leather recliners, a 60” flat screen and sound system, cable, and 2 game systems. My Aunt is going to live with us for a while to help.

In about 3 months, Dad should be able to travel and I plan to pick up a RV- maybe used, to go on short trips lasting less then a month each. This will give us a chance to learn “park life” so next year we can get out new custom build and start out 2+ year trip around the US.

After Monday I’ll post an update.

Thanks!

Walt Smith

I pray for the surgeons hands !

And this is a GOOD thing you are doing ---
taking time with him when time is important.

I missed that with my Dad and son and so trying to do differently with my daughter.

We are LUCKY if we have .

Hi Walt! So sorry about your dad's problem! I sure hope everything works out well for him!

Can you tell us what his username is here on IRV2? There's lots of "Craigs" and we would like to know which one he is. Thanks!

God bless!

So sorry to hear about your Dad, Walt...You're using his useraccount to post, is that right?

First thing he talked about after signing up here was the big plans he and his son (you?) had to travel the country. Link to that thread

Here's hoping he recovers well and y'all can continue to plan for what sounds like a wonderful adventure together!
