They just denied a $6000+ claim by a friend of mine for his fuel injection pump, saying it was not a covered part. However, that part was specifically listed in his contract as a covered part. It seems that newer contracts excluded that item, but so what? It was clearly listed in the contract he had. Long story short, rather than pay for the repair, ACC cancelled his contract and refunded his original purchase price. Saved ACC over $3000 by doing that, but left my friend holding the bag for a very expensive repair that he thought he has insurance for. Would you want to do business with a company like that?

If someone or some entity wants to sell you an extended warranty, they are betting you won't use all the premium, you are betting you will use more. Now, who do you think the odds favor?

If they were in the customers favor, the warranty customers would all go out of business. If you need the peace of mind, fine. Otherwise put that money in the bank.

Just remember, it is insurance, not an investment. You don't recover the cost of your car or house insurance premiums every year either.
