Adding a automatic transfer switch depends on where you tie it in and the amp rating of your RV power cord.

A simple solution is to get a inverter with a 20 amp transfer switch in it. Then find the circuit breaker to the coffee maker outlet, find that wire behind the breaker panel and tap into it with the inverter.

You can run 120 volt wires longer distances then 12 volt wires so keep the inverter close to the batteries.

A method I chose was to use the inverter I had and pick up a stand alone auto transfer switch.

The switch gets tapped into the coffee maker circuit behind the breaker panel and the switch gets plugged into the inverter. If the batteries and inverter is a distance from the breakers, an extension cord could be used between the 2 devices.

I am also in the process of installing an inverter.

I have a 1500W pure sinewave installed with 12V to it & of course 120V available at the front plugs. Also installed remote switch. The question is also how to hard wire to the circuits I want without risking back feed.

First try, that did not work, was to feed it to the generator input on the ATS. Seems the ATS wants a 3 wire connection. The inverter only supplies 2.

Next thought is to wire it directly to the circuits I want fed which are the 2 circuits of outlets. The complication there is that are those input sides common with input sides of other circuits such as water heater, microwave & built in electric heaters? Don't want to try to feed any of those with the inverter.

Don't want to risk backfeeding to inverter either. Already blew up an inverter that way.

You can't run the whole RV thru the inverter/chargers internal auto transfer switch, with the exceptions of some high end models. Then you will still need to switch the fridge and water heater to gas.
Well I was thinking of a small subpanel for the circuits he wants hot.....something like a Victron 2000 or GoPower 2000 both of which would have an internal transfer switch.....sounds like a 30A coach right OP??

I will switch breakers off that I don't need, not looking for perfectly seamless just more than having to go outside before coffee. We have a 50a rv, but like I said not trying to run everything, just trying to make things easier. We have a Onan 5500 on board but sty in state campgrounds sometimes with generator times. Also it's not an inverter/charger just an inverter, 1500w without an internal transfer switch. Planning on transfer switch to work for switching from Genny to inverter, coach already has one for landline to generator. To supply power to both legs of the coach I will run a jumper from leg 1 to leg 2

By all means get yourself an inverter. If you have been off generator using batteries for the night a coffee maker can be a lot of draw in the morning even on my 4 golf cart batteries .I'm going to assume you have LP stove. For years in TT I used DIY version of this from old Bunn filter basket to an insulated carafe . You can practice blooming your coffee easily with it also. So much better and faster than stove perk if you get temp right. Now that I looked this up I'm going to order it or similar.
