Allison expertise needed - broken down in Yellowstone

Broke down in Yellowstone.
No start. Allison key pad has every led segment lit. Main engine won't start. Allison electric shift pad is electronically stuck, not allowing the starter to engage.

Ruled out battery voltage -ok.

In Yellowstone - ideas?

I talked to a guy the other day with a Winnebago Journey that had the trans quit while he was trying to back into a spot. Had a teck come out and it turned out being the touch pad for the trans, some electronic board on it. It was a 3000 Allison like you have. I'am dealing with antifreeze in the Allison 3000 on my Journey and guess it will have to come out and get cleaned and checked. Great?? Ray

By no means Alison expert.
Try turning the main ignition key on / off several complete cycles. Slowly. perhaps a dozen times over 30 min.
I've heard of the ECM, TCM going into lock-out mode, sometimes can be reset this way.
Empathetic to your situation.
Best of luck.

Also might try disconnecting Chassis battery for a minute to see if it will reset.

X's 2 on this, easy to do, and the old CTRL-ALT-DEL might reset things....

Also feel for you, and assume since the LED's are lighting - you have all fuses working.

Does your unit have an engine management like Aladin(SP?) or Silverleaf that you might look for codes?

Fingres crossed, and please close the loop back and let us know what you find out,
Smitty

How are your batteries? I had an alternator fail and when the batteries ran down it kicked the Allison into neutral and had all kinds of funny lights going on. Of course the engine quit as well and would not start. I used the jump switch for the house batteries and it fired back up.

Easiest thing to do !!! "Sometimes " things will reset... Unhook batteries, (one main cable) and let it sit 10-15 minutes... Hook back up... If no go, then you will need a tech with a computer to figure out what your computer is saying....

Searching a couple other posts on the matter noticed this also. The TCM can be sensitive to marginally low voltage.
Been over a day now, must be frustrating.

My experience was with a 3060, but this might help.

We got the dreaded "snake eyes" on our display. Turned out to be a bad computer (controller, ECU, brain...)

When I opened the box up, it literally had a hole burned through one of the boards.

New controller was $3K from the Allison shelf. A rebuilt controller was $1000 cash from the service tech's desk drawer.

I hope you wiggle a wire and are back on the road, amigo!

Well, all good advise and much appreciated. Here is an update. After waiting about 2.5 hours, Allison reset and made it to campground. This morning turned key to "on", first every segment of keypad lit up, then gave me an "X". I replaced the ignition switch then replaced the chassis side battery shutoff switch, now I can cycled the key and get a normal Neutral light. On occasion, I have an alt fail light come on, then disappears won its own. Allison stores a code of d13500, which equates to temporary loss of power. I think I have some issue that temporarily reduces voltage to below what Allison needs to function then locks out. Guess it could still be keypad, but because I can see reduced voltage on voltmeter on occasion I think I have a ground problem of some sort on chassis side. I am dirty, greasy and cold trying to find a bad ground.

Oh, and chassis batts at 14.2 volt at the batteries themselves, and are brand new as are both sides of batt cables. So some how I intermittently lose 2 to 3 volts and it can happen with engine on (drops from 13 ish to 11v, or engine off from 12.5 to 10.5. , then it suddenly just comes back up. Thoughts?

Still could be the issue, found four in Salt Lake City for 800 each plus shipping, have one set aside.
