Am I Glamper or a Camper..

Ok...I'm a newbie heading to Alaska in a 26ft TT. Even though I have a microwave, toilet, AC, and my wife uses a curling iron every morning, I still puff my chest out like I am hard core.
Then... I see some people camping in tents, washing dishes with creek water, sleeping in hammocks, etc... My chest suddenly shrank back in and my belly popped out.
Soooooo....am I Glamping or Camping? Am I as tough as I thought or am I marshmallow creme?

If you stay inside, never sit outside under awning, don't cook on BBQ/Grill, don't use the RV Toilet then you are Glamping

If you’re towing to Alaska on the Trans-Can, I’d definitely call you a camper, because the odds of a breakdown are elevated, which places you in that rarified atmosphere above those of us too timid to attempt that trip. My dw would call it foolhardy, I call it Sir Hillary-esc.

Here's the original definition of glamping - something like a safari trip with waiters, fine china, etc.

To me it has evolved to those who go to the finest RV 'resorts' and even use their fine china.

The word to me seems very pretentious. I don't care for it. I'd rather have people think of themselves as a RVer or camper and ones who are happy being out in nature, traveling and seeing our wonderful country.

I guess using toilet paper instead of leaves could be considered glamorous. It's all relative.

I get this from certain people from time to time. In my 20's a buddy and I would camp tent during deer gun season here in Ohio. Through rain, snow, 20 degree weather, etc etc. The fact is I'm no longer in my 20's....I'm much smarter now.

If you can comfortably escape the bugs and weather and you sleep on a mattress, that's glamping.

When I was a teenager I used to backpack hike camp in the Appalachian Mountains. No tent. No rv. Some rope, a hatchet, and a sleeping bag. I made my own shelter from tall grass and tree limbs. A fire ring made of rocks, and a tree trunk as my camp chair.

To me, tents were for the glampers.

Some would consider 'glamping' putting an air mattress in a tent, having a propane fired Coleman coffee maker, etc. Indeed I spent many a year camping like this, and I would consider it glamping.

When you put a RV in the mix, even a pop-up, you're not really 'camping' anymore. You're RV'ing.

It is all relative for each person. We are roughing it if we do not have a sewer hookup. If we are on 30 amp service, we might as well be boondocking. 30 amp and no sewer, we might as well stay home.
