Some of my best camping memories were tent camping out of the trunk of an Oldsmobile.

No Spyder system, no DEF, no slides, what could go wrong? Now that's what I call dependability.

And if anything breaks you just chop down a tree and whittle up a new part.

That's exactly the way I started out with the family in my Dad's 1949 Model 76 Oldsmobile 2d sd.

Have you ever seen films of the off road capability of Model T type designed vehicles.
This is kind of cool.

My dad bought an Airstream back in the 90's. It was a lot of work, and constant maintenance. So he sold it.
He said the most fun he and mom ever had was camping with a rented popup. Did a 6 week tour of the western states with that popup and loved every minute of it.

That actually looks pretty good! Bug screens on the sides, cooking shelf that pulls out from under the bed. and a decent bed for sleeping. Canvas sides for rain, what more could you want. DR

A diesel pusher with all of the modern conveniences such as heating/air conditioning, running hot water with shower, a real kitchen vice cooking over a campfire in the rain....you get the idea.

You can romanticise the "good old days", I'm happy with my place in life at this time!
