Anger, Fights at Oregon Campsites
https://www.statesmanjournal.com/sto...s/69499305007/
Quote:
"Campsite pirates" claimed already reserved sites as their own. They tore off reservation tags from the campground's kiosks and replaced them with their own, leaving the original parties confused — and angry — when they showed up and foundtheir campsite occupied.
Tensions also ran high over first-come, first-served campsites. Plagued by the question of who arrived first, rangers had to play mediator and detective to determine the rightful occupant of the site. Two people even threw punches, said Brian Carroll, the director for Linn County Parks and Recreation.
Earlier this year, the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department reported assaults and harassment of park rangers had increased to the point the agency would seek legislation to give rangers added protection and increase the penalty for attacking them.
Rangers have reported not only being physically assaulted, but being stalked by campers with firearms and even attacked by campers’ dogs. Last April, graffiti was found at State Capitol State Park that said “die rangers” in a bathroom along with a racial slur.

SOSDD. First it was trash and now...
Won't be long till the sites get closed down and the lawless few will take over the abandon campgrounds

A lot of this has come out since covid. People seem to think they are entitled!
The rules don't apply to them. Look at the fights at fast food restaurants. Just because Burger King didn't make it their way!
Look at what the homeless are getting away with.
Without any rules, Society is just a bunch of people pushing the limits to see how far they can get! DR

Can’t, to many restrictions on posting, and this was caused/started about 4 yrs. ago. All from a political birth. sorry.
The reports don’t tell the whole truth.

I’ve always wanted to do a trip to the Oregon Coast.
I don’t know if I want to go that way anymore.
Not because of this event, but because of what I see on my TV screen,
Pretty scary.
I guess I can add Washington State to the scary places too.
Not worth the extra diesel, I’ll stop at Glacier

This is so sad to see as we love Oregon, but we quit going to Washington (Seattle) and may have to stay away from a lot more places in Oregon. We only stay at private parks on the coast, so we don't see this.
I had to laugh last year....while traversing the Oregon Coast, we pulled into one town and while waiting at a signal, there was a homeless couple sitting on the curb with their sign that said they needed money and work. What was funny was an 18" x 24" sign, staked into the ground advertising "Help Wanted" at the restaurant they were sitting in front of. The male actually had one shoulder against the sign.
Unfortunately, this topic is political and can't be discussed here. I think it would go south fast.

Traveled to Oregon many years and stopped to fill up the tank. Started pumping the gas and was met with an angry, rude attendant. This was my first trip there and I didn't know I couldn't pump my own gas. No problem but it was ridiculous for the guy to jump off the handle like that.
The areas I traveled through were very nice but that incident left a bad taste in my mouth. I'm not too interested in going back.
