Antifreeze (Winterizing Fluid) 2022 $$$$

I just bought a case (6 bottles) of antifreeze for this winter. It was roughly twice as much as last winter at $12/bottle.

That's outrageous. I think you got ripped off. RV ethanol here is $3.99/gal; the glycol $5.99. Looking forward to getting it done this year with about 2 gallons vs 8 gallons with the prior coach. I'm 7+ft shorter so less tubing, no icemaker, no washer, no dishwasher, just 1 toilet & just 2 sinks.

I always wait till the spring time comes around and then buy them on clearance. A couple years ago I was able to buy 20 gallons for $10. (.50/gal)

This spring I found them around the $1.50/gallon price.

The antifreeze our WalMart sells has alcohol in it. I prefer to avoid the alcohol-based antifreeze.

This spring, Home Depot had it on clearance for $0.89 per gallon. I bought 36.

The price has gone up. My favorite hardware store has it 2 gallons for $8.00. I get my anti freeze from a friend who buys it in 55 gallon drums. He won't even take anything for it. I just have to supply the jugs.

Would love to know where the OP bought at such an outrageous price. DH just bought 4 gallons at just under $4 per gallon. We generally use 3+ gallons, but we have a washing machine, ice maker, and door refrigerated water.

The ethanol based is about is about $4-5 per gallon around here. I like to use the propylene type since it's safer around animals. I just paid $10 a gallon for it. Most place do not even carry the propylene stuff.

Beware, Walmarts brand says it is propelyne glycol. The sds does not show this.

Purchase out of season for a lower price. ALSO, RV Antifreeze is REUSABLE. Depending on where and how you de-winterize, the RV Antifreeze can be drained back into the empty jugs to be reused at least once or more times.

I prefer not to attempt to outguess Mother Nature and no matter the price I'd rather pay for RV Antifreeze than pay to get my water system repaired. My coach has a lot of plumbing with an ice maker in the residential fridge, a bath and a half (two toilets and two sinks), double kitchen sink, stacked washer dryer, inside shower and outside shower hose. Maintaining your RV is an important part of the RV lifestyle.

Stay safe, Stay well.

I see the prices go up on this stuff every year about late August & early Sept. & it keeps going up as it gets colder. So I always buy 2 cases of 6 gallon bottles early summer & never pay more than $1.99 to $2.49 a gallon.

Read your review on WM website. Yes it does contain alcohol, but it does no harm.
I've been using it for the past 9 years with no unwanted side effects.
The good thing is, we can spend our money any way we choose and not complain about cost.

Last year rv antifreeze got hard to find at Walmart, or anywhere with a reasonable price. Get it early or you may have to scramble and pay more.

Some fill their systems with antifreeze. I stopped doing that when I realized I could get virtually all of the water out. Now I use less then a gallon for the traps and toilet and some in the water pump.
