Anyone removed window valances?

We are thinking about replacing all our window shades and could save $419 by removing the valances to use standard length shades. We would love to see pics of shades without valances! Thanks!

On our Bay Star, they're just attached with angle brackets and screws. You may need an extender if you use an electric drill. I've taken mine down to restring the day/night shades.

I hesitate to post because I don't have any pictures to share, but that is exactly what we did. I don't mind the exposure of the black frame around the window sides and bottom and the top is covered by the single valance of the new shades. It gives the inside a "roomier" and cleaner look without the bulky upholstered top and side valances that were OG. The DW chose a pull-down shade that is not cheap (naturally!) but looks very nice and is well made.

When I get back to my coach, I'll take some pictures and post them, if you are still interested.

Yes, I would sure appreciate the pics!

Rather than looking at the window frame get a shade to extend a little beyond your window and hang it above the window frame; not inside it. This way will also cover the sides better.

That's the way ours is done, but when the shade is up, the side frame is exposed. Probably should have made that clear in my post.

If any of you have shades but no valances, we would love to see how they look, even though you may not have removed the valances! Thanks!

Check the prices by this company. I like the 'Top Down Bottom Up' shades for versatile privacy.

Their day/night cellular shades seem to be about the same price as the ones from Home Depot, maybe a little more. Thanks for the info though!

On my Monaco, they used the double washers, welded together and then bent in the middle to secure the valances. I pulled all the valance in my Diplomat, updated the fabric and installed MCD shades. I think you'll really devalue the coach by removing the valances.

Joe, did you notice the pictures on the rvshades website have the valances removed? Looks cleaner to me. Too bad many of the pictures are of residential s&b installations

UPDATE I'm gonna look closer at this company! They offer some color choices on the day/night cellular shades that HD does not offer. They are sending me samples of three colors we are interested in. They have a sale going on through June 30th that may actually put them lower than HD.
