Anyone using Costco's oil?
Strolling thru Costco tonight the Kirkland brand 15W-40 SynBlend is on sale for 3 gals/$31. It says it's manufactured & packaged by Chevron. I got home & researched, it meets all the Cummins & API specs. At a little over $10/gal, it beats the $17/gal for the Valvoline non synthetic Cummins recommends.
Anyone using the Costco oils, have you had any issues? Thoughts on the Kirkland oils?

Mobil Delvac 1 Fan Boy here!
Trying to treat my engines as best as possible I go full synthetic. I have been using Obil 1 products since the early 80's for myself and most customers. For the Motorhome I try to go with the Delvac 1 for everything. Since fuel alone is about $0.75 per mile, I'll pay for my oil of choice. I also believe in oil testing.
Getting ready to do an annual oil change on my engine I also researched oil filters. Going to try a Baldwin. PT9415-MPG. $118!
I had a bypass filter on my last one. Hoping the performance of this dual flow filter eliminates that need.
I'll be trying the Mobil 1 Delvac Extreme, 15w-50.
Hopefully it is worth it.

For what it's worth, I just got off the phone with Cummins and he said Cummins doesn't recommend Synthetic or Synthetic Blend oils, just conventional. The preferred is the Valvoline Premium Blue Gen 2, but any meeting the Cummins standard 200086, API-CK-4 is okay.

I like to point out that your statement should only apply to motorhomes that are equipped with Cummins engines furnished by Cummins inc.
Any Ram truck that has a Cummins engine in the chassis and cab truck used for a motorhome or pick-up truck must follow Rams Requirements for service. Since Cummins does not provide warranty for these engines. Stellantis provides the warranty on all 6.7L Cummins engines in their trucks.

As with others, I've used their full synthetics in all my gas vehicles for years. I usually buy a box or two when it goes on sale depending on how my stocks are. Never had an issue and it meets all of the requirements for my gas vehicles.

Sorry, I forgot that Dodges also have Cummin's engines.
I gave the Cummin's phone tech my engine serial number for a couple other questions I had. Then I asked him about Cummin's recommendations about synthetic & synthetic blends. That's when he said Cummin's reccommends conventional.

Possibly more important than the oil is the filter. Doing some research some of the filters used are just not that good. I had a bypass filter on my last motorhome and would like to avoid that cost and complication. This appears to be the best filter readily available considering the micron specs. Note, this is dual element filter with a 20/5-micron rating.
This particular one is also a "long" version to increase capacity.
Confirm fitment but looks like this is good for the ISM and ISX engines.

For oil, next change soon I will be trying the Mobil Delvac 1 Extreme Performance, 15w-50.
https://www.mobil.com/en/lubricants/...extreme-15w-40
Currently this oil is on sale at Autozone, $23.99/gallon.
For the later rigs with the DPF stuff I would suggest one of these,
https://www.mobil.com/en/lubricants/...mobil-delvac-1
My Onan generator is running the Mobil 1™ Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40.
Easier to pour in the quarts.
https://www.mobil.com/en/lubricants/...el-truck-5w-40
Also using the M1-204A Filter.

While researching this, I noticed some brands don't offer full synthetic in 15W-40, which my coach calls for. Any idea why, and thoughts on running the 5W-40?

Moving to synthetic it is common for first number to be lower. This is due to the inherent viscosity index of these oils. They do not gel when cold. As the is still a -40 at 100C it will be the same viscosity as the 15w-40. The Rotella T6 is also a 5w-40 or 10w-30. Mobil also offers that FE version for the really new stuff. Using the 5w-40 you will find easier cold starting and better running through warm up. If not for this "Extreme Performance" labeling, I would be staying with the 5w-40 ESP.

I was at a seminar put on by Cummins at the FRVA Expo in GA back in March. The presenter said the same thing - conventional oil.
He was asked why and just sort of shrugged his shoulders and said that was the recommendation.
BTW, Pensoil has a rebate program going on for T4, T5, and T6 through the end of May.
