Or maybe not.

I'll give LAdams is pretty bad. He has a propensity for ending threads just because he feels they have run their course, even if everyone is behaving and making valid contributions.
Sirdrakejr is lazy. He'll close threads without giving any explanation why, often when there is no apparent reason for the closing. DickA. lives up to his name (one time, he actually insulted my screen name; had I done something like that, it would have been moderated). All of them feel free to modify posts, often changing the meaning of the post in the process. I quit posting there for a while when that happened to me. I do not remember who the moderator was but he had an irrational hatred for quotes in posts, even if the quotes had been shortened. He would delete all quotes in threads (if we weren't allowed to use quotes, why was the quote button included?). When he did to me, it either killed the relevancy of what I posted or made it appear I was inappropriately responding to the post immediately preceding instead of the one I was actually responding to. When a moderator edit changed what I said, I would delete it. When the quote hating mod deleted the quotes from several posts I made, then closed it so I couldn't delete them, I requested that they delete my posts. When they ignored me, I quit posting for several months.
It does seem to be better over there now but there is a lot of room for improvement. Most of them appear to still be on power trips.

It sounds like it is driven by profits, or lack of profits if the bandwidth is excessive in their mind.
On a RC car forum, the owner didn't include the text when you got a notification of a reply because he made money on every click. His words when I questioned him.

Don't know about the mods or admins making money, or the click part of it, but the adds that slow down the page loading do bring in $s.
