Are your slide seals … in’es or out’es … or combo

The slide side seals are usually partially folded out against the side of the slide and partially curled inward towards the inside of the RV

A “expert” RV owner told me I should go around all the slides & insure the seals turn outward against the side of the slide. He said it will leak otherwise.

I had never looked at the slide seals and on my three motor homes have never had a slide leak water in … even during extreme severe hellacious rain storms.

Does any one know if the expert is correct or FOS?

Today I went around all the slides with a plastic hook and made sure the seals are out’es all the way around. Another chore to add to the setup list.

Those are 'wipers'...not seals
Seals are on inside face interior trim of slide...seal when extended
Seals are on inside face exterior trim of slide...seal when retracted

'Wipers' remove debris/moisture etc from top & side walls of slide
Doesn't matter if they flip-flop or not

Old Biscuit nailed it. The main seals are on the interior and exterior flanges of the slide. From my limited experience, and I guess it depends on manufacturer's design, the rubber wipe seal flips out when the slides goes out and flips back in as the slide comes in.

Probably doesn't make much difference but it makes me feel a little better that the wipe is an out'e when the slide is extended.
