Got our first truck camper three years ago when I was 42. Got rid of that one and got our second truck camper last spring. Have a wife and daughter that enjoy it with me.

At 56 a little later than most to the RV scene but not new at all to the overnighting away from the house, roughing it. First boat, a 21' cuddy cabin, about as much covered room as a small popup, at about 30. That served us well for the years BC, before children. For the years DC, during children, the boats grew first to a 27 then to a 32 spending something like 40 nights a year on the water, always anchored out somewhere.

The RV came along in the transition years into AC, after children. It is very much a rolling condo for 2.

Ok. Gotta do some math.
Bought my first full size pick up in 2004, so we bought our first popup the next year when I was 44.
Kept it for about a year and a half before we bought an old "canned ham" camper. A '65 Fan, IIRC. Easy to tow, nice looking, but a little tight for 2 adults and 2 dogs.
Sold that one after a year and a half and bought a larger TT that needed LOTS of work. A '72 Norris, I think. Total gut job. Kept it for 2 1/2 years, until we were coming back from NJ for my dad's 80th. Pammi, my DW, said something was sticking out the side of the top as we were traveling down the interstate. Long story short, the seam at the front of the camper gave way and was lifting in the wind! There was a home center nearby and I bought some duct tape, flashing and self tapping screws and mad and air dam to divert wind over the break.
We got it parked and I secured a tarp over it the next day.
Work and life got in the way and it was the next spring before I got back to look at it.
Uh oh. Black mold EVERY WHERE! I wound up scrapping it out for a lot less than we paid for it. Not to mention what we put into it to get it road and camo ready.
A couple years later we bought another used popup and had fun in it for 5 years or so.
Then, last year, when I was 55, we bought our first new TT. LOVE IT!
Of course, that doesn't included the "camping" I did in The Army from 80-86.
But that's a WHOLE different story!

I was 60, DW 63. Its about as much fun as you can have mixed in with just enough scary moments to keep it interesting.

25, used Perris Valley slide-in.
32, used Excel 18 ft TT
37, brand new Fleetwood Angler slide-in
54, used Fleetwood Neon pop-up (still have).
57, brand new Winnebago Paseo.
I've camped since 6 years old. My grandpa always had a VW Westfalia, a few times in that and for the last 51 years in my RVs or a tent. I'll still tent once in a blue moon while either on a short Jeep or bike trip. I've even tent camped in Korea and Kuwait.

Years earlier (1985 or so) we had a 16' TT for short weekend fishing trips...had about 2 years.

In 1992, Age 46, we bought our first MH and have had coaches ever since....2 34', then a 39' DP, and a 40' DP last 4 years. Into our 26th yr of coaches.

MY Wife bought me my motor home for my 65th birthday. We had boats before that and I wanted to tour the entire USA. So far 4 years later we have seen all of the western USA including Alaska up to the Mississippi. This March we will cross the Mississippi and start touring the central part of the USA 9 more states.
