Awning Seam Leak Repair at Cover

I know this has been addressed here before, and I have read the (old) threads, but none of them really nailed down a good solution, or, maybe, people never followed up to let us know that what they did worked.

I have a Dometic awning with the metal protective cover, and where the cover attaches to the fabric, about 10 inches from the wall, there is a seam. For the first two years there was no problem with rain water getting through the seam, but now, there are several places where the water will come through quite freely. I have always been able to see a little sunlight through the entire length of this seam and wondered why it didn't leak. I used to be able to put stuff up against my camper to keep it dry when it rained, but no more.

Has anybody found a solution to this problem recently?

The stuff for tents seems to be very fluid and I think I need a more viscous solution for the larger needle holes.
