Backup cameras
I am wanting to add 2 cameras to my truck and trailer. One reverse on license plate, and one on the back of camper. I want to use my existing double din radio that has the one video input and it has the reverse wire, Nesa 651. The camera on back of camper I want to turn on at anytime. If I wire it up like this, will it work? Turn toggle on when I want to us camper camera, then turn off when I reverse so the license plate camer comes on. Basically be able to switch back and forth on cameras via toggle or when in reverse. I do not want wireless or an extra monitor. Thanks in advance and I hope my drawing makes sense.

You just need to wire both cameras into either side of a DPDT switch. Then the center two go then to the monitor camera input.
Switch between the two cameras with the switch. Make sure you don't get a momentary switch, you want to keep contact with whichever cameara.

I was thinking about that. I have revised my wiring. Maybe I am over complicating things. I still want my truck camera to come on when I put in reverse(when switch is on). This will be for daily driving when not hooked to camper. Then switch off reverse cam while pulling camper so I can turn camper cam on at anytime without both cams interfering with each other. See new diagram.of course I will have a connection for video and power at back of truck for camper.

So the plan is to wire the video signals together and then switch which camera is active by turning the power on / off to that camera? Have you tested that?

For >$130 Ebay has a 4 camera wired system with a 9" monitor.
I installed 3 cameras. 1 on each front side of my 5er. And one in the rear. No more blind spots. Or PU mirror extensions.
Good picture. Hardest part was wiring from 5er rear to inside the PU. Used 4 wire trailer connectors at PU bumper.

Yes. That is the plan. It is not tested. I will hook everything up inside the cab and test before I waste my time running wires. Worst case I will have to get a separate monitor for the camper camera. Then I would be able to eliminate having more than one switch. I’m just trying to utilize my radio instead of extra stuff mounting to windshield or dash.

Just trying to use current radio screen instead of adding a monitor. If I can’t get it to work like I want, I’ll have to buy a separate monitor. I’ve already ordered everything I need for what I’m shooting for now. I have $80 bucks in 2 cameras and all the wiring and connections I need.
