Bad rotor and stator

Anyone had to replace or repair rotor and stator on onan 12kw?
Onan says they are built to order. There is several places that rewind.
Has anyone had this done?
Thanks

I had a brush that was cracked and the diagnosis was rotor and/or stator. $13 versus about $2800. Long time generator tech at Cummins Ocala. Unless you have the r/s out and in pieces I would try brushes first.

Basically the brain has to sense a/c voltage within seconds to continue to run or it shuts down. Bad/broken brushes may give enough juice to start but not enough to
tell it to continue running. Then it throws a code for $$$$.

Good Luck...and if the bill gets big be sure to join Cummins Power Club...$20 could save you several hundred on a r/s repair.

Not specifically generators since they took them off cars, but starters, staters for ATV's, hot tub motors, etc.. Good shop will save you $$.
