Be honest and legal at border crossings

At the border a vacationer diesel motorhome caught my eye as we have the same.
It has been parked at the border for over a week now. Looks like they lost their RV because of what they were carrying in their compartments. If you screw around at the border you may lose your RV.....good lesson in border crossing .

Pure conjecture. Albeit the advice is worth taking.

If it was seized it would have been towed to an impound yard

Maybe it belongs to the agents and they live in it like gate guard jobs in the US...

It was caused by the refer which didn't have the recall box.

Sort of a question for this thread..... We are looking to spend some time going to Canada this summer. I store a few weapons in the coach but will be leaving them home as most of you know, Canada does not allow US citizens to carry into CN. However, having had the weapons and ammunition in the coach, some have mentioned that there will be dogs checking RV and vans etc. I'm guessing I might get the evil eye if the dogs smell my past storing of ammunition. Has anyone experienced this?

Never had a problems with the Dogs.

The NRA sticker on the door has caused delays, with many questions. But always allowed to proceed.

Next trip I will remove the sticker.

Our summer home is just 80 miles south of the Canadian boarder.

You can carry long rifles into Canada with the proper forms and paid fee. But beware, the smallest discrepancy in paperwork will unleash the 'hounds'.

We entered CA at Bonner's Ferry on our way to Alaska. Before entering, I had the necessary forms for an onboard shotgun but I had failed to bring the shipping receipt for a hand gun I had shipped to Alaska. Nothing was said about the under the limit ammo in the coach. They did not allow us re-entry to retrieve the receipt and 5 agents spent 2 hours going through the coach with a fine toothed comb. They went thru everything...even my dried fruit container in the fridge and the wife's personal papers. While we waited, we felt like terrorists...stern faces all around until they found no contraband or explosives, then with smiles and happy demeaner, we received hardy 'welcomes to Canada and enjoy your stay'. It was quite the experience.

Point is...better have those ducks in a row before you enter. The Canadians we met were the most friendly of any, but do not 'trigger' the guard of the border with missing or incomplete documents.

P.S. To their credit, items seemed to have been treated with respect and pretty much back in their original positions and condition. None of my dried fruit was missing...No harm, no foul.

??? I don't understand why you needed a shipping receipt for a weapon that was not in your possession when you got to the border. How would they even know that there was such weapon?

Perhaps because he was carrying a shotgun and 'said' he shipped the handgun. He could have been lying about the handgun so they wanted proof.

Well if that's the case, that would be his big mistake. Just like in a courtroom, you should answer the questions truthfully but never volunteer any information that was not requested.
