Best credit card use for gas cash back rewards

The best one I know of is Sams Club MasterCard 5% cash back on gas, any better ones out there?

I think my PenFed card does the same...5%.

Another vote for PenFed! They deduct the 5% cash savings from the statement each month.

With the Sams credit card I have the rebate is only given one time each year, in February I believe.

An additional feature of the Pen Fed card is the rebate is unlimited.

PenFed is a credit union you can join. They have CC as part of their services. I just checked them out. I'm gonna change to them.

Everything goes on Costco Citi card. Not 5%, but 4% and I don't need another card

Hmmmm, 5% off? That's more than 10 cents a gallon and here I thought I was doing great getting 7 cents a gallon off (instantly at the pump at Flying J) with my RVPlus card!! Guess I need to start using my GS card instead!

I believe Sams card is limited to 5% on first $6k of gas purchases--'course that is a lot of gas.
parkerbill,
You could be way better off with the Sams card AND not going to FJ--using GasBuddy to find 15-40c/gal cheaper than FJ is usually easy unless you need the truck islands.

Those discounts only work if you pay the full balance monthly. The interest rate for the Sams Club credit card is close to 24% best I remember, make a minimum payment and your gas discount is swallowed up.

You may well be correct in some or even most Pilot/Flying J locations, but not all. For example, virtually all the gas stations here in Palm Coast, FL are selling Regular for around $2.25 a gallon, while the Flying J a few miles up I-95 at highway 206 is at $2.11 for Regular. (I just checked both of these numbers on Gas Buddy.) I happened to be passing by that way on Monday and using my RVPlus card I filled up for $2.04 a gallon.

parkerbill,
OK, not familiar with FL, but I am only concerned with diesel, so don't track gas prices.
Ray,IN,
That only seems obvious to me....

The cash back is a discount, not interest. Think of is as a rebate.

The credit union will send a 1099 for interest on your savings or checking account, but not for the credit card discount.
