I wouldn't do business with BOA if they were the only bank on the planet. Chuck

Ditto.

And they are just as underhanded to their employees as their customers.

We have the 5% cash back on gas paid at the pump card from PenFed, but they don't offer that any longer.
PenFed does offer a points card though that gives you 5x points on gas paid at the pump. Not sure how that translates into gas savings, but presumably the points are good for something.

If you have Verizon wireless, their Visa card gives 4% back on gas purchases (and a bunch of other cash back options). You use the cash back money to down pay your Verizon bill.

Just back from a several week trip and I used Discover for my fuel purchases. They had 5% cashback offer on gas station purchases for April, May and June so it worked out nicely in this case. The categories change every three months so this was just good luck for me. The 5% easily beat the per gallon discounts and the per gallon price increase some stations charge for credit vs. cash purchases.

Wells Fargo........fake account scandal/insurance scandals
BanCorp............Money Laundering
JP Morgan Chase......Mortgage Interest scandal/ATM fees scandal
Citibank............aggressive robocalling to non-customers
Discovery..........consumer fraud

Citibank, Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, Capital One and others have recently faced or settled class action complaints.

Interesting. I did not know Verizon offered a credit card. Chuck

And then the next category changes for months. So that really isn't much help. Chuck

So I looked at the Verizon Visa and here's what I found...

The Verizon Visa Card is designed just for Verizon wireless customers who are Account Owners or Account ManagersIn My Verizon, a person granted permission by the Account Owner to make changes to the account.

with up to 12 phone lines maximum (depending on plan) on their wireless account. Use the card and earn rewards on every purchase, everywhere your Verizon Visa Card is accepted. Buy gas, shop at grocery stores, dine out or order-in and more, and earn Verizon Dollars1 to redeem toward Verizon purchases or to use toward your monthly Verizon wireless or Fios bill2 to book travel on airlines, hotels, rental cars, or buy merchant gift cards.

Verizon Dollars have no cash value and are issued for reward purposes only and cannot be purchased, sold, transferred, redeemed for cash or Verizon gift cards, or used for security deposits for Verizon wireless or Verizon Fios account services.

4% Verizon Dollars on gas

So there doesn't seem to be any cash back value to this card. Chuck

When considering a card, think about how you travel and other things you need.

I have a Sam's Club credit card that gives 5% back on fuel anywhere. I often find that Sam's Club also has the cheapest gas too.

I use gas buddy to find the cheapest along the road. If it is a Sam's Club. then that calls for a rotisserie chick.

Sam's Club or Costco also have the best price on GC2 batgteries.

Sam's Club or Costco don't usually have the room for me to fuel up a 35 foot motorhome towing a vehicle. That's a big consideration in where we can stop for fuel. Chuck

any credit card that has a cash back option and than I use stations that have a loyalty program, such as shell. Which I think offers a credit card that gives a bigger discount on fuel purchases but I am not sure about a cash back option on that one. following though for better deals.

Likewise. It's discover recently. A while back it was Chase. And AMEX has "offers" every month and always 3% on gas (at least for the card we have). Some of these deals require you to register for the specific deal on the website to get the discount.

We've been using the AMEX 6% grocery discount for years.
