Man, you guys are a wealth of information. Looks like I need to get set up with a Dish Tailgator and Wally from the consensus opinions. Is there one place better than others to purchase this setup? I'll be mounted this outside my Airstream either on the ground or a stand. Does mounting it on a stand have it's advantages?

Look at the Pathway X2 for future adventures out west.

Mine are permanently on my roof of my MH, so I can't answer that last question. However, I would purchase from a dedicated reseller like dishformyrv.com for the equipment. You will deal with people who do this for a living and truly know what you need. I bought mine directly from dish and they didn't tell me some things I needed to know.

+1 on Dish
We have Dish Network at home and purchased the Wally and Tailgater a year ago. The dish is mounted permanently on top of our class A. We traveled from northernmost Michigan to southernmost Texas and were able to get a signal whenever we tried.

I think this is great advice. I kicked DirecTV out just over a year ago and went with Dish at home and on the road. I have the Tailgater and Wally and it works fine. And, I'm saving about $50 a month with a guaranteed two-year price lock.

I'm sure the cost will go up after that two-year period, but I think I'll still be saving money over DirecTV. In my opinion DirecTV started a downhill spiral on service and customer service when they were purchased by AT&T. They are a hateful group now - and I'm pleased to be away from them.

AT&T/DirecTV owed me just over $120 when I cancelled my service and it took about four months to ever get the refund.
