Beware Beth-Page Camp!

Work campers: Beth-Page Camp, in Urbanna, VA is not to be trusted.
I was hired to work food service there last summer. Was promised 40 hours. Oops, job wasn't available until May 31 - so I spent 6 weeks with no income.
In the meantime, Beth-Page moved all work campers to a grassy. flooded area near the dump. This resulted in a mouse and ant infestation that I'm still struggling with. (5 dead mice and counting) Aargh!
After I finally started work, they shortchanged me $1.75 an hour from what we agreed on. OK They said it was a mistake. Next pay period, same thing. It took me two months, 10 e-mails and 10 phone calls just to get the salary they owed me.
Then, they add insult to injury by totally ignoring my numerous phone calls and e-mails seeking the return of the $52.00 deposit I paid for a cable converter. Still haven't gotten it back.
This resort charges outrageous prices for electricity and propane. No discounts for work campers. Owner doesn't even acknowledge you. This was a very bad experience for me.
They are currently advertising for 2017 workers. BEWARE!!!

I'm sorry that you had issues there as a work camper. I stayed there as a guest a few years ago and had a nice time. I would not want to work camp there after your experience.
