Big Cooper Tire recall

Just a FYI for any Cooper Tire owners out there.

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. is recalling more than 430,000 light truck tires in the U.S. because they can develop sidewall bulges.
The recall covers Discoverer, Evolution, Courser, Deegan, Adventurer, Hercules, Back Country, Multi-Mile, Wild Country and Big O tires in several sizes.

The tires were made between Feb. 1, 2018 and Dec. 1, 2019. Owners can contact the company at (800) 854-6288.

Glad I bought Generals instead of the Coopers I was considering.

That recall should not make Goodyear happy since they just bought Cooper: https://corporate.goodyear.com/en-US...-industry.html.

Maybe you shouldn't be so glad...General just issued a recall on lots of tires as well including the GRABBER line. Yours might be in the recall. It looks like the recall is for tires that are made at the Mount Vernon, Illinois plant...plant codes A3 and 1A3.

The plant code is molded into the sidewall of the tire.

It appears to be passenger car tires and pickup truck tires. No big truck tires.

Continental/General will begin replacing affected tires on April 15.

On the other hand...maybe you should be glad if your tires have a few thousand miles on them. You will get free tires...just cost you some time to go to your tire dealer! The miles you already drove will be FREE!

You might be right. Looks like I need to dust the crud off the tires and see if they are in that lot number for the LT275/70-18. Oh well, they only have a thousand or so miles on them since November.

Looks like 2 recalls - one in Sept 2020 and the other a week ago.

There is at least one LT275/70R18 on the list. Grabber A/TX LT275/70R18, date code 3720, plant code A3. There might be others.

Mine are the HTS60 and they too are on the list. Supposedly I'll be getting a notice from General if they are suspect but I'll be looking at them myself in the next day or so.

Goodyear annouced they are buying Cooper.

My two cent guess is they bought them to shut down Cooper Tire and eliminate another competitor... Cooper may not be a high end brand, but have historically offered a decent tire for a decent price.

My 20" Cooper Discoverer are not on the list. The 55 aspect tires are though.

Best tires I ever bought to pull a fifth wheel.

My HT3 235/80R17s are not on the list. Would have been nice, 6 tires are going to hurt.
