black rollup blinds - ow! so hot!
The black rollup blinds are fine, inside the RV, but being black on the window-side as well is building up a lot of heat. Has anyone ever painted the window-side with a white, or very light shade, so as to not absorb as much sunlight?
There are several manufacturers of vinyl paint, but didn't want to ruin them, if it's a bad idea.
thanks in advance!

I just bought some cellular Blackout shades (Blinds.com) for the bedroom replacing the drawstring pleated shades.
Both sides of the shades are off white whereas the inside of the cells are black.
They really do darken the room, and aren't too hot.

It sounds like you have them both inside and outside. Why? Just use the inside ones. I wouldn't start painting windows.

I'm not painting windows, yet,,lol.
I'm just referring to the window side of the rollup shade, as opposed to the living room side.
This is a brand-new 2025 FR3, so would like to keep the shades otherwise.

Consider installing window tinting. It does really help.

I doubt any vinyl paint would hold up to being rolled up into that tight of a bend.

Well yeah.....black absorbs heat. Get rollups that are a light colour both sides.

I think once the heat gets inside it's inside regardless of the color of the shades. Best to install window shade awnings on the outside and keep the heat outside where it belongs.

This is good advice, pricey but works well. Also useful in the rain.
For the windshield and driver/passenger area there are several good products that attach outside the RV, some you can see through, that keep the heat outside the unit.

I see you have a new RV so you may not want yo mane an investment in new shades but there are shades made with black facing in and reflective white facing out. My front windshield shade is made that way and does a fine job of keeping most heat out.
