Bounder Oil pressure

So I just changed the oil and filter on my 2007 Fleetwood Bounder with the 8.1 liter engine. Now my check engine light is on and says low oil pressure with 0 psi. Anyone have a suggestion or idea what it could be. Engine starts and idles fine.

Look on the ground and make sure the new oil isn't there!

Then when you're sure the oil is full start the engine and bring the RPM up to about 1500-2000 for a few seconds and it will pick up the new oil.

A long shot, but since it worked before the oil change, make sure you didn't delete or leave a center o-ring in the center of the oil filter.

Checked that while doing the change. Learned that one the hard way on a snowmobile. I'm at my wits end.

Check the oil level on the dipstick.

If OK then remove the filter and make sure you didn't leave the old filter gasket in place or look at the old filter and make sure it has the old gasket on it. Also look for oil in the new filter.

I wouldn't be starting it up and revving it or anything else until I found what's amiss. Won't take long to do some bad things if it truly doesn't have any oil pressure.

From GM truck club . com: Oil pressure sensor loc. "It's on the back of the block just below the intake manifold. It's pretty hard to see, let alone get to. Mine went bad last year and my gauge shows 0 psi. I bought a new sending unit, but every time I try to get to the old one, my arm gets stuck and I just give up. A buddy of mine owns a shop and told me to bring it in, i just haven't gotten around to it. " Sounds like these sensors are problematic.

My last and only suggestion now is to get a direct reading oil pressure gauge and see the real story. There is usually a plug near the oil filter that can be removed to hook up the gauge. I think I heard someone say you can borrow a gauge from the auto parts stores.

Good luck and please follow up when you figure it out. I am very curious.

Bounder Oil pressure

Not to be the one to assume, and I’ve seen it done, did you verify the engine oil level? I’ve seen many drain the oil, and fill the trans with engine oil.

Oil pressure sensors can fail internally, but when they fail, it will peg out the gauge

I have had the wire to the sending unit break from heat over time. Showed zero oil pressure and freaked me out. Only way to check is to do what has been suggested, hook up a manual gauge. If it shows pressure then track down a sender or wire issue.

It really would be odd for his oil sender or oil sender wiring to go bad at the exact same time he changed the oil. I guess it could happen.

I was always taught that when trouble shooting a problem to look where you worked most recently.

Unusual for a sensor to go bad at the same time as you did an oil change. I don't think Ford used any Lucas electrical parts.
