Broken Water Pump 2013 24G

I am looking at a 2013 Winnebago 24G that is 3,000 miles away. I had an rv inspector look at it for me, but he couldn't really do his job because the water pump wasn't working. The owner says that the water pump was recently replaced and worked fine but then stopped. The owner (wife) also overfilled the diesel generator with oil so that was a problem - blowing smoke when it was started up. It's a nice coach and they promise to fix all the problems, but we are worried about this water pump problem. My question is: What would cause the water pump to go out twice? Is there a bigger problem that we are not anticipating? We are newbies and feel like we're buying a "pig in a poke" as we say here in WV. Any wisdom and advice would be appreciated. Thx. gina

The water pump is a $60 to $100 part. It could simply have some dirt in the valves or froze, if stored in freezing areas. Maybe left running, with empty tanks or the intake screen is missing.

If it's a freezing issue, you need to get the water system checked with city water to look for split open plumbing.

I would be more concerned with the smoking $8,000 generator.
