Buying
Good morning. I would like a second opinion or 2. We recently sold our rv and going for a bigger one, 36-40 ft. We are looking at a Winnebago Vectra, Tiffin Allegro, Newmar and Fleetwood Excursion. Any thoughts on which would be the better choice. We had Winnebago View class c, loved it, just too small.

I would lean toward the Newmar (what model?). From the model names, I'm guessing you are shopping used diesels, so condition is probably more important than brand name.
Is the Tiffin an Allegro Bus? The other Allegro models are either gas chassis or smaller than 36 ft. And the new Excursion is under 36 as well.

If I had limited my choices to the brands you mentioned, I would also focus on Newmar. However, if you are looking into used DP's, it is as important to focus on how a coach has been maintained and actual condition as anything else.

Gary, the Allegro RED is a DP available up to 38'. As you stated they have a smaller Allegro Breeze DP which is around 32~33'.

We're on our 2nd Tiffin. The first one was a 34' Allegro gasser. it was nice but I had to lift the wife over the doghouse (stroke). The 2nd one is a 34' DP Allegro Bay. The Tiffin customer service has been great even thou I didn't buy either one of them from the plant.
As said before - pick a floor plan the DW likes because if she isn't happy, you are going to be miserable (sp).

While I am a Newmar fan, my brother has owned a 2005 Winnebago Vectra since new. His Vectra has proven to be a strong and reliable coach and overall he has been very pleased with it.

We happily traveled in our 40' Newmar Dutch Star for 8 years of our full-timing.
I would first choose a quality manufacturer, THEN choose a floorplan from what they have to offer. Why choose the floorplan for something that's not reliable?

I could not agree more. So many folks say 'choose a floor plan you like'. I say get something that has a good reputation for build quality on a chassis that doesn't handle like a bread truck, then focus on the floor plan. Most all the manufacturers offer a floor plan that works for most people.
