Buying out of state - Maryland requires safety inspection before purchase??

Anyone gone through this? I bought a class C 24 years ago and forgot how we dealt with it.

Buy it, drive it to MD, and get state inspected *after* the purchase?

Are you buying from dealer private party?
If from dealer get a temp. tag from them to use until you get MD inspect. If private party you can get MD temp tag until you get inspection

Maryland has probably the toughest state inspection protocol in the country. The shops love it because they will flunk the slightest thing to make a living.
Your question is on the vague side. Are you selling the class C mentioned or buying a new to you rig?
It doesn't matter if you will own the rig yet, get the seller to have it inspected and save yourself a lot of misery.
We lived in MD for 20 years and I worked in dealerships that had a inspection license.

You can purchase it but tags for Maryland won't be issued until it has been inspected by an authorized Maryland inspection station.

Thanks. Trying to recall from 24 years ago and I think that's what we did.

Class C was sold back in 2003. 'New to me' rig.

I checked on the MD MVA website and it lists states that they except out of state inspections from. There's only 3-4 states that qualify. The state I'm buying from doesn't qualify.

Thanks. Private party.

I'll ask at the inspection station I've used before about any nuances I need to know beforehand. I'll have to find out if they're certified to do 'C' inspections (trucks, busses, RV's, etc).

Kentucky also has that requirement. Indiana requires any vehicle bought out of state be checked by police for proper VIN numbers on vehicle and bill of sale.
